June Goals Status (with pics)

Midway through June I decided that maybe setting stitching goals AND holding myself accountable is a necessary part of Stitching from Stash. So. I'm going to try this "stitching goals" thing again. But with pictures this time! Because I like posting pictures.

Ongoing Projects:

OK, I have way too many of these.
  • Just Nan's Mouse in a House series - goal is to actually get them all done within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Frosted Pumpkin Mysterious Halloween Town - whether finished or not, this will be out of rotation by end of September in favor of a Christmas design. So hopefully I can finish it by then.
  • Faby Reilly Lizzie Stitching Wallet - this is a stitch along that runs through October. Goal is to keep up with it.
  • Tempting Tangles Feathers n Fins - I love this, but stitching on 40 count is a challenge, so it's slow going. Goal is at least one or two threads per month.
  • Spring Robin - this is an old-ish WIP (started in 2014); shooting for an August finish.
  • Nora Corbett Bleeding Heart Pixie - I sort of accidentally started this; goal is at least one or two threads per month.
  • Stitch Maynia starts - the small designs will be take-to-work projects. I hope to finish one of the larger designs by the end of the year (Not a Creature Was Stirring by Lizzie Kate).

June Smalls SAL post

Here is my June small for the Smalls SAL run by Heather of Stitching Lotus:
This was my first 2017 Stitch Maynia start; one down, several to go. :)

Pine Mountain makes these 'All Tied Up' pillow kits - the pillow cover comes pre-assembled; you just stitch the design on the top front section, purchase/insert a pillow form, and tie the bow. I chose to also back the stitched section with iron-on interfacing, because I was concerned that I hadn't secured the threads snugly enough to stand up to even gentle use.

I received the kit in a stitchy exchange last year. It's not my usual style, but I really like it and how it turned out.

I also finished Just Nan's Strawberry Mouse from "Summer Mouse in a House":
This was stitched on the charted fabric (Blush by WDW) with the charted threads. The Summer House will be my first start of July. 😊

Big time happy dance

I have finished Just Nan's Spring Mouse in a House!

There are SO many imperfections; this was my first time doing blanket stitch, and my first time stitching together something so complex. But I am so incredibly pleased with it, and do not give a darn about the imperfections. :D

Happy weekend to everyone - I hope it's being good to you!

I'm having a little bit of a stay-cation. I'm dog- and cat-sitting for some friends - we have a great arrangement that when I'm out of town, they watch my dog, and I reciprocate with their little herd of fur-babies. I decided to take advantage of the time and am spending non-pet-activity time stitching and reading.

I also went to a movie today - Wonder Woman! It was amaaaaaaaazing. Gal Gadot is just fantastic. And Robin Wright plays General Antiope, which was very cool. She played Buttercup in The Princess Bride years ago. I saw a meme someone created, a photo of General Antiope and General Leia Organa captioned "I have lived to see my Princesses become Generals." YES. So awesome.

In the realm of stitchery, I've been thinking I need to rename this blog to "One Thread at a Time." That's about all I manage on any given day right now. It's one reason I decided to enjoy some stitching time this weekend.

I have one finish lately:
This was a kit from the May 2016 Cross Stitch Crazy magazine. I love how it turned out.

EDIT: I meant to add that I did not use the Aida that came with the kit; I cut a scrap of 28 count white evenweave to the same size and used it with the provided threads. I was VERY glad I did that when I got to the back stitching - lots of coming up through the center of stitches that would have been unbelievably aggravating on Aida.

I've been working on Mysterious Halloween town, and I'm back to working on the Just Nan Spring Mouse House. I sort of semi-gave up on the Mouse House for a while, partly because my fabric appears to be 35 or 36 count instead of 32 (either shrunk in the dye process, or mis-labeled), and because losing Miss Pansy Mouse was a huge bummer.

But guess who turned up? Miss Pansy Mouse! She had somehow got put away with some threads. So I am again looking forward to finishing her house.

I got a new phone, so I tested out the camera by snapping pics of a couple of finishes I hadn't photographed yet. I finished and FFO'd the rabbits last year; finished and had the Japanese Hiragana Sampler professionally framed back in...February, I think.

A FFO and stuff

I actually finished a thing: Jumbled Summer by Pine Mountain Designs. It comes as a finished pillow cover with the stitchable panel; I co...
