April Smalls SAL post

My April small for the Smalls SAL run by Heather of Stitching Lotus:

I stitched a bluebird motif from a pattern called "Four Seasons Sampler" in the Feb 1998 Cross Stitch & Needlework magazine (one of the magazines from my book sale haul!).

Stitched 2 over 1 on 28 count Oyster linen. The charted colors were more on the pastel side, and I wanted something brighter, so I used GAST Evergreen, Grape Leaf, Dungarees, & Terra Cotta; and DMC 798 & 816.

I turned it into a pendant necklace:

This finish is something I saw at Creative Thread, absolutely loved, and was determined to do for myself sometime. I used a Tim Holtz pocket watch frame (from the scrap-booking embellishments aisle at Joann's - and can I just say that it took me FOREVER to realize it wasn't in the Jewelry aisles? Doh) and some pretty blue beads.

Other smalls completed this month:

Oh Amy, what a wonderful small you have stitched and finished. I like your color changes and the use of the watch fob. Enjoy your pendant.

What a BEAUTIFUL finish and idea for future bday gifts to my friends. Thank you for letting us know it was in the scrapbooking aisle and not the jewelry area in JoAnns.
