May Smalls SAL post

My May small for the Smalls SAL run by Heather of Stitching Lotus:

I stitched and finished the cover design from the What Delilah Did Secret Garden Embroidery book.

It's a pincushion! I used some obnoxiously stiff cross stitch linen for the middle piece of fabric (goes between the back of the design and the filling), backed it with a scrap of reddish fabric, and filled it with aquarium sand.

This was my first time using a sewing machine in...oh, 20 years? And I was never great at sewing to begin with. But even though it's lumpy and misshapen, I love it! My first sewn finish! Yay!

Only one other small finished so far this month:
I hope to finish the Joyful World SAL "April" before the month is out, but I'm not sure I'll have time. And I'm not letting myself start another project until that's done! Even though I'm dying to start the Ink Circles "Village Square." *twitch*

Cute! I feel ya on the sewing machine, too. I can sew straight lines....sometimes.... :)

Amy, I think your pincushion looks good. You did a really super job with the honeycombs. I look forward to seeing your April block finish soon.

I think that your pincushion looks great - not lumpy at all.

Sewing the finished project is the scariest part, but you did a great job!

A belated September finish

I was so close to finishing the stitching on this last weekend, but ended up doing other things instead. If the orange looks blinding on you...
