Progress pics

I've made progress on a couple of things - I have four of the eight cups stitched on "Block Party - Java": And I've been working on my Maynia 2019 day 1 project, "Where There Are Bees": I'm somewhere between a third and half done, and I'm running out of the gray-brown! I thought I had more than enough - almost (I thought) a full skein - but clearly not. Unfortunately, I have two other DMC 3787s, one old and one new, and neither of them completely matches the one I used (which I suspect was also an old one). The older extra skein is pretty close in color, I think, so I can make it work. But I do think it's funny that I have three DMC 3787s and none of them match. 😄 Dye lots, amiright?

January Smalls SAL post

My first Smalls SAL post! I am unreasonably excited about this. This is the small design from a By the Bay Needleart pattern set called Chilly Winter. The first image below is pretty true to color. It's stitched on a scrap of 32 count cloth, not sure by whom; the color is called "Fanci Blue." The charted house color was very...dark-mustard-y, and I didn't care for it. I went with a lighter yellow. I also restitched the two-tone smoke poof a few times until I liked the darker color (I settled on a blend of white and gray, one thread each). I also attempted to make it up into an ornament. It turned out all right, I guess? I used gray felt, white rick-rack, and a couple of pearly buttons I had in a bag 'o buttons. It could be better. February Smalls SAL post

I unexpectedly started on February from the Joyful World SAL last weekend, so I decided to make it my Smalls SAL project for this month: I like how these designs are simple (not overly many stitches, very very little confetti) but challenging (counting threads on 36 ct linen...let's just say my eyes are not as young as they used to be). I've been using pins to mark off progress as I stitch the borders, which helps a lot. Other smalls I finished this month: Gone Batty Alsatian Redwork Heart Sidenote: I had initially planned to stitch this design for this month's Small, but it has been an absolute pain and I've had to put it aside. The fabric I got for it turned out to be very stiff and awkward to work with; for some reason I kept stitching the leaves wrong and having to frog and re-stitch; and then I discovered that I had made a mistake and an entire bit of vine was misaligned, and who knows how much I'll have to unpick to fix it, ARGH.
